Create a Story
Our popular core drama class for new K-1 students! Students create original stories, bringing them to life through drama, movement and music. They learn to improvise, develop characters and plots, and develop confidence. In the spring semester, students are encouraged to join the continuing class Stories on Stage where students gain the skills to perform as an ensemble in the Students on Stage Festival in May.

Sing Disney
An Imagination Stage favorite! Students create their own stories using Disney favorites such as Aladdin, Mary Poppins and Beauty & the Beast as a springboard. This fusion class of music and drama offers students the chance to develop the concepts of melody, rhythm, pitch and timbre as well as to create characters.

Creative Drama Classes
Students use their bodies, voices, minds and imaginations to explore both classic and contemporary stories. Classes encourage creative expression and promote confidence and self-esteem while working on skills such as active listening and sharing. Connections to stories are made through dramatic play, music, movement and visual art.

Creative Drama: Knights & Princesses
GRADE K
Building on the Creative Drama class model (see above), students travel back in time to the world of castles, dragons, and of course, knights and princesses. Stories such as Get Well, Good Knight, Twelve Dancing Princesses, and The Night and the Dragon are used as a springboard for new and exciting adventures in the classroom.

Creative Drama: Jungle Adventures
Building on the Creative Drama class model (see above), this class explores fabulous tales of jungle animals. Students meet (and become) lions, monkeys, birds and more, using stories such as The Jungle Book, Jumanji and Way Far Away on a Wild Safari as a springboard.

Creative Drama: Eco-heroes to the Rescue
Building on the Creative Drama class model (see above), students create superhero characters to help save the planet. Developing their ability to create characters and stories inspired by superheroes in such books as The Earth and I and Garbage Detectives as a springboard students learn more about the world they live in.

Creative Drama: Pirates and Mermaids
(HOME SCHOOL AGES 6-7)
Building on the Creative Drama class model (see above), students use fun and adventurous salty tales to explore the ocean. Classes use stories such as Pirate Pete’s Great Adventure and Mystery in a Bottle to springboard into the waters alongside pirates and mermaids.

Drama & Music
Creative drama and music are integrated in this fusion class. Students create their own stories, songs and dances based on popular children’s tales and with simple props and costumes they create characters to bring their stores to life.

Creative Movement: Dance Disney
Using the stories and music of Disney, students develop coordination, physical and spatial awareness, and rhythm skills. This creative movement class encourages students to use their imaginations to explore the simple, inspiring themes of Disney.
This movement class is for students who want use their imaginations and move without being held to specific dance steps

Mini Broadway Tap
The perfect class for all budding “tappers”! Students learn developmentally appropriate tap steps building on their understanding of rhythm, coordination and basic foot work.

Story Ballet: Beauty and the Beast

Using the story, music and characters of this well-loved tale as a springboard, students begin their ballet education learning arm and leg positions, jumps and basic combinations with focus placed on cultivating gross motor skills and developing spatial awareness.

Mini Broadway Jazz
Mini Broadway Jazz
This exciting class draws from Broadway musicals to develop rhythmic awareness. Students learn basic jazz steps, including kick-ball-change, jazz arm work and mini-jumps and turns. Students are encouraged to return for the intermediate semester which builds on the skills to teach students begin to mini combinations across the floor.

Story Ballet: The Nutcracker
Students twirl into sugar plums, toy soldiers and snow flakes using the story of The Nutcracker as a springboard to learn beginning ballet steps. Using creative and fun activities students cultivate motor skills and develop spatial awareness.
