Silent Auction Rules
1. Silent Auction bids will be received on corresponding bid sheets starting at 6:30 p.m. Bids cannot be made, changed or withdrawn after the closing announcement at 10:00 p.m.
2. Enter your name and daytime phone number on the line of the amount you wish to bid on the appropriate bid sheet. Improper bids will be stricken from bid sheets.
3. The Auction Chairs reserve the right to lower bids, to modify closing times, and to withdraw any item from the sale prior to bidding. Typically, the minimum bid is 35% of the stated value; during the Silent Auction, an opening bidder must meet or exceed the previous bid by at least the minimum raise shown on the bid sheets. Bids not meeting these requirements will be disqualified.
4. If you want to be certain to win a particular item, enter your bid information (name and phone number) by the Buy It Now Purchase Price at the bottom of the bid sheet. The item will then be yours and no other bidder will be permitted to outbid you. The price is typically 120% of the value. Otherwise, the highest bidder acknowledged by the Auction Chairs at closing time shall be the winner.
5. Absentee bids on Silent Auction items will be made by the Auction Chairs, bidding on behalf of the absentee bidder. Bids will be made in the beginning at the initial bid level specified by the absentee bidder, and will continue to be made at the specified increments on the bid sheet as necessary to maintain the absentee bidder as the highest bidder, up to the maximum bid price established by the absentee bidder.
6. In the event of a dispute, the Auction Chairs shall have sole final discretion to determine the successful bidder.
7. If an item has a minimum bid and the Auction Chairs determine that the minimum bid has not been met, the item may be withdrawn from the auction at any time.
8. Values indicated for auction items are good faith estimates of the values of the items or services donated to the Auction Committee. Following the Gala, you will be provided with a receipt that will list both the fair market value of each item
purchased and the amount paid for each item. When no monetary value is listed it is because the Auction Chairs have no
information on which to base an estimate of fair market value. Your charitable contribution to Imagination Stage is any amount paid for the goods and services in excess of the fair market value. Please save your receipt for your records in order to document the deductibility of the individual items purchased. Please consult your tax advisor as to the income tax deduction you may take based on your contribution.
9. The Silent Auction will close at 10:00 PM, and check out will start at the Reception Desk at 10:15 PM. Checkout will begin at the Reception Desk after the performance is completed, ONLY for Buy It Now winners (approximately 8:30 PM). The list of bid winners will be displayed. Payment must be made before certificates and items can be collected. All items must be claimed the night of the Gala.
