Everyone Knows What a Dragon Looks Like and Pandora's Box

express

Arts Express is Imagination Stage’s popular “Introduction-to-Theatre” camp for children entering grades 2-4 in September 2009! Camp days are filled with fun, active, and educational experiences in creative drama, music, movement, and visual arts. Classes also include developing important life-long learning skills such as teamwork, active listening, creativity, spontaneity, and risk-taking.

Under the direction and guidance of artist educators and trained college counselors, children learn the ‘nuts and bolts’ of developing a story, creating characters, and putting a play together. Much of the camp is spent acquiring the tools and developing the skills necessary to be an actor. Campers share the work of the four week camp with their parents and friends in a thirty-minute performance during the final week of camp in Imagination Stage’s Reeve Theatre.

Everyone Knows What a Dragon Looks Like
Performance July 15 or 16

Sao Lan and Meigui live in a distant land, and their story takes place many, many years ago. They have a happy life in their little village…until the day a messenger appears at their home with an urgent warning that will change their village and their lives forever! Join Sao Lan and Meigui, along with their friends, on a mission across China to warn the Mandarin of the oncoming Wild Horsemen of the North. As our band journeys through dark forests, high mountains, and rainy plains to reach the Jade Tiger, they meet snakes, leopards, cranes, city workers, and even a dragon! The voyage is filled with magic, dance, song, colorful creatures, and lessons about what makes each of us special. Everyone knows what a dragon looks like…Do you?

Pandora’s Box
Performance August 13

Kate is an average, ordinary girl, with very little excitement in her life. She goes to school. She argues with her brothers. She wishes for more responsibility. But she doesn’t know that her whole life has been watched over by nine Greek muses, and that she’s about to embark on a wonderful journey! What happens when Kate is whisked into the world of ancient Greece, where Pandora, a girl very similar to Kate herself, is about to open a very mysterious box? Zeus, Hephaestus, and the other Greek gods watch as Kate and Pandora learn what the box contains, and how the contents will affect the very fate of the Earth.
